SELF-CARE TOOLS
here are several tools you can play with in your daily self-care routine (dinacharya in ayurveda)
+ gua sha
+ enema (basti in ayurveda) bucket—an inexpensive option
+ kombu for nourishing basti (small holding enema)
+ dry brush or garshana gloves (if your skin is sensitive)
+ neti pot (basic) and neilmed solution packets or this squeeze bottle nasal rinse kit or the ultimate (in my opinion) navage nasal rinse system ($20 off with this link)
+ boroux water filter (similar to berkey)
+ coconut or sesame oil (unrefined if possible, for oil pulling and abhyanga/self-massage)
+ pumice stone for dry feet
+ epsom or dead sea salt (unscented)
+ burn paraffin free candles if you like to use candles
+ yoga mat (the one i use + a natural option that i have not tested)
+ yoga props (blankets, blocks, straps)
MORE TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER
+ debbie meyer green bags because the pitfall of stocking your fridge with loads of produce is watching the ‘crisper become the rotter’ as my teacher, ti, says. these are a miracle and keep produce fresh longer than i’d ever thought possible.
+ notebook or binder (for class notes, food journaling, and program materials)
APPLIANCES TO CONSIDER
+ metabolic scale i recommend the withings body smart composition scale for weekly at-home weigh-ins. you can use a different scale, but i strongly suggest having one that reads out fat mass (in lbs) and total body water (lbs). this is the best means to consistently track your results and adjust your program accordingly.
+ blender blendtec (my preference, partly because the blades are not sharp!) and vitamix are like the king and queen when it comes to heavy duty use (tip: look for renewed or refurbished). if you’re not ready for the investment, any blender will be a big help to you on the cleanse, so have one that will at least make a smooth smoothie.
+ cold pressed juicer hands down, the best juicer on the consumer market, the nama j2 is a game changer. use code DJJ210 for 55$ off. note that you do not need a juicer, but if you’re in the market for one, i can’t, in good faith, recommend any other.
+ electric pressure cooker. instant pot is what i use. it’s simple to use and especially efficient for making broths, soups, steamed veggies, etc. best of all, pressure cooking maintains more nutrients in foods than stovetop cooking.
if you have access, consider scheduling
+ far infrared sauna sessions (or at home investment sauna blanket or pemf mat—use code LILAT15 for 15% off)
+ cupping/acupuncture treatments
+ lymphatic drainage massage
